Central Sterile Processing Technician

About This Course
Learn how to clean, sterilize, and manage surgical instruments and medical equipment used in hospitals and clinics. This program covers setting up equipment for procedures, preventing infection, and handling inventory, including ordering and maintaining supplies.

Clinicals
Students will gain classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience in a sterile processing department, with schedules based on clinical site availability. Please note: Clinical site placements are based on the North Shore (MA) service area.

Certifications
After completing the program, students are eligible to take the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification exam at a local Prometric Testing Center (exam fee not included).

Students must complete 400 hours of on-the-job experience within 6 months of employment to be fully certified.

Costs
The required textbook, workbook and flashcards are included in the cost of the course. Exams are not included in the cost of the program.

Entry and Healthcare Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Accuplacer Placement Exam meeting the minimum Math and Reading scores, if you do not have prior college credits
• CORI background check
• Proof of immunizations, a negative TB test, a COVID-19 vaccine with a booster, or a drug screening may be required for certain healthcare classes
• You will receive an email from jmccloud@northshore.edu before the first class, containing the student healthcare packet. This packet must be reviewed, electronically signed, and submitted prior to the start of class

Reiki Usui/Holy Fire III: Level 2 Practitioner Certification

About This Course
Enhance your healing power and intuition as well as your confidence and skills with Level 2 training. Learn full treatment session techniques including advanced body scanning and traditional Japanese Reiki techniques. At course completion you will have an understanding of the following concepts: clearing negative energy from your clients and their homes, distance healing, healing of emotional problems and trauma, and changing unwanted habits. As a Usui/Holy Fire III Reiki Level Two Practitioner, you can see clients and open your own Reiki healing practice if you chose to do so.

Course Prerequisites and Materials

• Successful completion of any Level 1 Reiki lineage.
