Pharmacy Technician This course is online and can be started anytime throughout the semester. Learn pharmacy medical terminology, reading and interpreting prescriptions, and defining generic and brand names drugs and much, much more. Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to participate in an optional volunteer externship opportunity with a local company/agency/organization in order to gain valuable hands-on experience. Prepares you to enter the pharmacy field and to pursue certification including the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board& PTCB exam(s): Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and National Workforce Career Association (NWCA) Pharmacy Technician Associate Certification (PTAC). Cost includes required textbook. Exam not included in the cost. Prerequisite: High School Diploma or GED. Health Care Requirements for Non-Credit Health courses: 1. Accuplacer Placement Exam: It is strongly recommended that students take the exam for advising purposes. Proof of immunizations, a negative TB test, a COVID-19 vaccine with a booster, or a drug screening may be required for certain healthcare classes. You will receive an email from jmccloud@northshore.edu before the first class, containing the student healthcare packet.
