EKG Technician
Learn to conduct and interpret electrocardiograms (EKGs) including the anatomy and physiology of the heart, equipment technology, how to interpret a rhythm strip, and details of a myocardial infarction. Course prepares students to take the leading national/industry-recognized certification exam(s) essential to entry-level employment in this fast-growing field: NWCA National Certificate: (NWCA) EKG Technican (CET) Exam. Cost includes the required textbook. Exam not included in the cost of the program. Prerequisite: High School Diploma or equivalent. Health Care Requirements for Non-Credit Health courses: 1. Accuplacer Placement Exam: If you do not have previous college credits students are required to take the Math and Reading Assessment (Accuplacer) and meet or exceed required score. Proof of immunizations, a negative TB test, a COVID-19 vaccine with a booster, or a drug screening may be required for certain healthcare classes. You will receive an email from jmccloud@northshore.edu before the first class, containing the student healthcare packet.
