Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide with State Exam

About This Course
The Nurse Assistant training program prepares students for an entry‑level career in healthcare and for the Massachusetts State Board exam to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). Students learn hands‑on skills in our state‑licensed lab, including taking vital signs; moving and turning patients; personal care and hygiene; bed making, bathing, and feeding; basic record keeping; and responding to emergencies.

Clinicals
Includes a supervised clinical experience in a local long‑term care facility with a Registered Nurse Instructor.

Certifications
Includes certifications in Home Health Aide, CPR, and CMS Hand in Hand Dementia Training. At the end of the course, students must take and pass the State Board exam to become a CNA in Massachusetts. The exam is included in the cost of the class.

Entry and Healthcare Requirements
--Open to students age 16 and older
--Accuplacer Placement Exam meeting the minimum Math and Reading scores, if you do not have prior college credits
--CORI background check
--Proof of immunizations, a negative TB test, a COVID-19 vaccine with a booster, or a drug screening may be required for certain healthcare classes
--You will receive an email from jmccloud@northshore.edu before the first class, containing the student healthcare packet. This packet must be reviewed, electronically signed, and submitted prior to the start of class.

Fall Abundance About This Course Enrich your design skills by bringing the bounty of fall indoors as the weather gets crisper. Flower identification, care and handling will be covered as well as design styles. Cost Fresh flowers are included. Required Materials Please bring scissors, knife, ribbon and wire cutters to class.

Italian 1 - Vuò imparare l'italiano? Learn how to understand and carry on simple conversations in Italian. Explore cultural aspects along with various dialects spoken throughout Italy.

Real Estate Salesperson's Exam Prep Course

About This Course
Designed to provide knowledge and understanding of real estate principles and practices. Prepare for the Massachusetts Real Estate Salesperson's Examination. Learn state required content including property, contracts, closing, financing, brokerage, housing, zoning, appraisal, Massachusetts license law, and real estate math. This course is taught by a Massachusetts certified instructor.

Attendance Requirements
Students must attend all 40 hours of class to receive their certificate of completion to sit for the exam.

Phlebotomy

About This Course
In this course, students will learn how to safely perform blood draws (venipuncture and microcollection) and handle specimens properly. Topics include medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, blood collection techniques, and collecting other types of specimens within a phlebotomist’s role.

Externship
Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to participate in an optional volunteer externship opportunity with a local company/agency/organization in order to gain valuable hands-on experience.

Certifications
Course prepares students for the National Workforce Career Association (NWCA) Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification exam.

About This Course
Prepare for the TEAS exam with this focused course designed for students entering health programs. You’ll review key skills in reading (including maps, charts, and graphs) as well as English grammar and punctuation. For students with a basic understanding of grammar and punctuation, additional topics may be covered based on class time, student interest, and individual needs. This course helps strengthen core skills and build confidence for test day.

This introductory course provides hands-on experience with the latest version of QuickBooks, focusing on essential skills for managing small business finances. You will also learn to generate reports and create graphs to visualize financial data.
