Pharmacy Technician Program Students have 4-6 months to finish the online program. About This Course Growing demand for pharmacy technicians offers strong job opportunities across healthcare settings. This program prepares students for entry-level roles and the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam. Students learn pharmacy terminology, prescription processing, pharmacology, calculations, law, and ethics, along with insurance procedures, inventory control, and communication skills. Graduates gain the knowledge needed to work in pharmacy settings and understand top 200 medications, including their uses and classifications. Externship Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to participate in an optional but highly recommended volunteer externship opportunity with a local company/agency/organization in order to gain valuable hands-on experience. Certifications Course prepares you to take the leading national/industry-recognized certification exam(s) essential to entry-level employment in this fast-growing field: PTCB, Pharmacy Technician Certification Board and NWCA, National Workforce Pharmacy Technician Associate Certification, and Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician license. Entry and Healthcare Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Accuplacer Placement Exam, meeting the minimum Math and Reading scores, if you do not have prior college credits CORI background check Proof of immunizations, a negative TB test, a COVID-19 vaccine with a booster, or a drug screening may be required for certain healthcare classes You will receive an email from jmccloud@northshore.edu before the first class, containing the student healthcare packet.
