Basic English as a Second Language 1 This course is for students whose first language is not English and who are at the very beginning stage of learning English. All skill areas are taught: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The focus is also on practicing everyday vocabulary and foundational grammatical concepts in preparation for Basic ESL II.Textbook required. Prerequisite: ELLC 0-65 The cost of the required textbook is included in the course cost and will be automatically added to student charges.
