About This Course
In this course, students will learn how to safely perform blood draws (venipuncture and microcollection) and handle specimens properly. Topics include medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, blood collection techniques, and collecting other types of specimens within a phlebotomist’s role.

Externship
Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to participate in an optional volunteer externship opportunity with a local company/agency/organization in order to gain valuable hands-on experience.

Certifications
Course prepares students for the National Workforce Career Association (NWCA) Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification exam.

Dental Assisting

About This Course
Prepare for an entry-level position as a chair-side Dental Assistant. Become familiar with all areas of administrative and clinical dental assisting to work in a dental practice. Learn the history of dentistry, introduction to the dental office, the legal aspects of dentistry, introduction to oral anatomy, dental operatory, introduction to tooth structure (primary and permanent teeth), the oral cavity; and other areas.

Externship

Certifications

Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide with State Exam

About This Course
The Nurse Assistant training program prepares students for an entry‑level career in healthcare and for the Massachusetts State Board exam to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). Students learn hands‑on skills in our state‑licensed lab, including taking vital signs; moving and turning patients; personal care and hygiene; bed making, bathing, and feeding; basic record keeping; and responding to emergencies.

Clinicals
Includes a supervised clinical experience in a local long‑term care facility with a Registered Nurse Instructor.

Certifications
Includes certifications in Home Health Aide, CPR, and CMS Hand in Hand Dementia Training. At the end of the course, students must take and pass the State Board exam to become a CNA in Massachusetts. The exam is included in the cost of the class.

About This Course
The gold standard for Recovery Coach Training fulfills 30 of the 60 educational hours required to become a Massachusetts Certified Addiction Recovery Coach. Recovery Coaches play a vital role in the community; they serve as guides and mentors to individuals with drug and alcohol problems, and empower people on their personal journey by providing many options and 'paths' to recovery. Training participants will receive tools and resources designed to help people heal from the devastating effects of addiction, whether they are just entering recovery or looking to deepen and sustain their recovery. Central Sterile Processing Technician

About This Course
Learn how to clean, sterilize, and manage surgical instruments and medical equipment used in hospitals and clinics. This program covers setting up equipment for procedures, preventing infection, and handling inventory, including ordering and maintaining supplies.

Clinicals
Students will gain classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience in a sterile processing department, with schedules based on clinical site availability. Please note: Clinical site placements are based on the North Shore (MA) service area.

Certifications
After completing the program, students are eligible to take the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification exam at a local Prometric Testing Center (exam fee not included).

Students must complete 400 hours of on-the-job experience within 6 months of employment to be fully certified.

Recovery Coach Training: Additional 30 Hours for CARC Certification

About This Course
Recovery Coach Academy provides 30 of the 60 educational hours required for Massachusetts Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC) certification. This course offers a comprehensive overview of addiction science, the effects of commonly misused substances, and the impact of addiction on mental, physical, and overall health. Required CARC topics covered include Addiction 101, Mental Health, Motivational Interviewing, Cultural Competency, and Ethical Responsibilities.
