Course Description
Nurse Assistant training prepares you for an entry-level career in healthcare while preparing you for the Massachusetts State Board exam to become certified Nurse Assistant. Course also includes certifications in Home Health Aide, CPR, and CMS Hand in Hand Dementia Training, and a clinical experience in a local long-term care facility with a Registered Nurse Instructor. Skills are taught in our state-licensed lab and includes vital signs, moving and turning patients, personal care basics, bed-making, bed, bath and feeding, record keeping and responding to emergencies. Open to students 16 years of age and older. Students must take and pass the State Board examination to become a Certified Nurse Assistant in the state of Massachusetts and the exam is free of charge for first time test takers. Accuplacer Placement Exam: If you do not have previous college credits students are required to take the Math and Reading Assessment (Accuplacer) and meet or exceed required score. Proof of immunizations, a negative TB test, a COVID-19 vaccine with a booster, or a drug screening may be required for certain healthcare classes. You will receive an email from jmccloud@northshore.edu before the first class, containing the student healthcare packet.
